    National Conservation Lands, formally known as the National Landscape Conservation System, is a million-acre (, km 2) collection of lands in federally recognized areas considered to be the crown jewels of the American West. These lands represent 10% of the million acres (1,, km 2) managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Managing the landscapes that provide our natural and cultural resources has become increasingly challenging. To meet this challenge, Landscape Conservation Cooperatives were launched to better integrate science and management to address climate change and other landscape .
